This is the Shellrock River above the Nora Springs impoundment in August 2010. Launched somewhere from the greenbelt trail, the bend pictured below is probably here https://www.google.com/maps/@43.157849,-93.0328616,120m/data=!3m1!1e3?hl=en

Caught the small pike above from an off-current pocket which is probably here https://www.google.com/maps/@43.1603754,-93.034748,119m/data=!3m1!1e3?hl=en ;

Another bend probably here https://www.google.com/maps/@43.1614186,-93.0339844,120m/data=!3m1!1e3?hl=en held a small muskie.

The image above is probably here https://www.google.com/maps/@43.1625338,-93.034645,119m/data=!3m1!1e3?hl=en ;

This rock wall is probably along the east bank here https://www.google.com/maps/@43.1680196,-93.0376461,118m/data=!3m1!1e3?hl=en

Now the rock is on the west side of the river probably somewhere along here https://www.google.com/maps/@43.1719523,-93.0448012,119m/data=!3m1!1e3?hl=en I caught a few small bass along these rock walls, but nothing spectacular.

Again the rock is on the east side probably around here https://www.google.com/maps/@43.1762112,-93.0468641,120m/data=!3m1!1e3?hl=en I turned around and made my way downstream here or at one of the similarly sharp, bluff bends just above here.

Back at the Nora Springs dam - so apparently this trip covered only 2-3 miles but took a whole afternoon, 2 small pike and a few small bass were caught, apparently no carp this time, probably tried for a few though.  So that gives you some idea of what it was like back then.
